Congenital Esophageal Atresia with Tracheoesophageal Fistula

Abstract
The congenital anomalies are one of the major cause of the death in neonate, and the congenital esophageal atresia and tracheoesophageal fistular is not uncommon congenital anomaly.

Early diagnosis of congenital esophageal atresia with tracheoesophageal fistula, and more careful preoperative preparation and postoperative care, as well as, improvement in operative technique, have result in improved mortality, and constitutes one of the major advances in pediatric surgery.

Several cases of esophageal atresia and tracheoesophageal fistula ware reported, but its survivers were very rare in Korea.

We experienced two cases of congenital esophageal atresia with tracheoesophageal fistula, during early 1972at the Dept. of general surgery, St. Vincent hospital, Catholic Medical College, Suwon, Korea.

We reviewed literatures, regarding its etiology, clinical findings, diagnostic procedures, and operative procedures and its results.
